In 1983, Yachad began, aiming to fill a void in the Jewish world. A space was desperately needed for those with disabilities to be able to experience Jewish life and community to their fullest. Looking back, 36 years later, we’ve achieved that, and so much more. From vocational training and job placements, to schools, to our ever-expanding summer programs and Shabbatonim, we’ve changed countless lives, families, and communities for the better.

Our work however is never done. We want to do more, reach more people, expand to more locations, offer more programming and services. And we can’t do it without you.

At the IVDU Schools our mission is to provide the core academic, social, and life skills needed by our students to achieve their highest potential and develop into productive citizens in their communities. Our teachers prepare students for peer interactions, communication in society at large, and future job placements.

Because of your friendship and support, the IVDU Schools have grown 83% over the last 5 years. this past year alone we opened a new school lower school on Long Island. Currently 100%of our students utilize assistive technology to maximize their learning and benefited from art and music therapy. This year students completed over 500 hours of social skills training, had over 1,000 hours of mainstreaming opportunities, and received 3,705 of Occupational and Physical therapies.

Your gift will help IVDU provide an individualized Jewish and secular education for students with special needs, many of whom have been turned away from other schools. You will provide vocational training opportunities, travel training, and social skills training that will equip our students with the skills they need to be active participating members of our community.
