In honor of the 20th anniversary of The Anne Samson Jerusalem Journey, known as TJJ, NCSY is pleased to announce the establishment of the TJJ Founders Scholarship in honor of Rabbi Barry Goldfischer. We recognize and honor the remarkable dedication and commitment of founding director of TJJ, Rabbi Goldfischer, by paying forward all that he has given us. We are raising $20,000 to provide a full scholarship for one TJJ participant for the next 5 years.

Rabbi Goldfischer has worked on TJJ every year since its inception in 1999. Over the last two decades, TJJ has touched more than 4,000 lives and counting, largely thanks to Rabbi Goldfischer. It’s his exceptionally warm and engaging personality thatdrawspeople in — teenagers, advisors, staff members, and rabbis alike. Rabbi Goldfischer’s leadership, tolerance, humor, charisma, and deep commitment to Torah, allow him to form meaningful connections with teens and inspire them along the way. His open heart and full soul have made TJJ the exceptional program that continues to inspire generations of young people year after year.

The TJJ Founders Scholarship in honor of Rabbi Barry Goldfischer will enable even more unaffiliated teens to go on TJJ, as the program continues to strive for new heights. TJJ is already subsidized at half the price for those who cannot afford to pay for a summer program. This scholarship goes even further to make sure the experience is available to the hundreds more who could benefit from the same program. The impact of Rabbi Goldfischer and TJJ lasts well beyond the duration of the summer program of fun, inspiration, and growth. Thirty to forty percent of alumni decide to attend seminaries and yeshivas in Israel after high school and teens become leaders in the Jewish community, integrating their TJJ experience into their lives for years to follow. This new scholarship will help TJJ and Rabbi Goldfischer inspire more TJJers to grow in their Judaism.
